As a new mom, you are still processing what just happened! You just gave birth to a human being! A 6 to 8-lb baby just came out of you! Whether Vaginally or via C-session, your body just did the unimaginable!
After your delivery, you will be left thinking “what do I do now?” and “how do I take care of myself and my newborn baby after giving birth?” It can be a very frustrating process but we got you covered with all of your postpartum essentials and must-haves for a speedy recovery!
So, this post is for all the new mamas out there who want to know what postpartum must-haves they need in order to make the recovery process a little bit easier no matter if you had a home delivery or hospital birthing experience.

25 Postpartum Essentials for a Speedy Recovery after Birth
Let’s dive into these essential postpartum must-have items needed for all moms after giving birth:
1) Maternity Pads:
You will bleed after you give birth and it can last up to 6 weeks postpartum. The bleeding is called lochia and it is basically your uterine lining shedding. In order to prevent stains on your underwear and clothes, you will need some heavy-duty maternity pads.
After both of my deliveries, the hospital provided me with maternity. However, they weren’t the best!
I didn’t find them to stick well, making it easy to shift and create a mess!
I purchased my own maternity pads with wings and wore them for the first 3 days post delivery and then I was able to go to regular, less bulky sanitary pads.
2) Nipple Balm/Cream:
Your nipples will go through a lot during pregnancy and breastfeeding. They will become cracked, dry, and sore. In order to soothe and heal your nipples, you will need some nipple cream.
If you’re a regular reader of Taj Things, then you know I wasn’t able to breast feed. However, I did purchase nipple cream, as I did have intentions to breast feed.
3) Postnatal Gummies:
The forth trimester is one the the scariest parts of motherhood, as we don’t always know how well it will pan out due to hormonals changes. I produced way more milk my second time around and I believe it was because of this drink. Now, I will be 100% honest, I HATE THE TASTE OF COCONUT WATER. However, in this drink you can barely taste it!
And if you didn’t know coconut is the most hydrating liquid and is a game changer if you consume daily.
If you like the taste of coconut water and want to consume less calories, then try the coconut lyte.
12) Nursing Bras:
These will help to support your breasts and make nursing easier. The most important thing is comfortability!
Nursing bras are not about support, it’s about convenience and easy access!
13) Pain Relievers:
You will likely experience some postpartum pain and discomfort. Pain relievers can help to ease this pain and make the recovery process more bearable.
TMI ALERT: When having a vaginal delivery, you can possibly tear down there. Yes, you will get stitched closed, but until it’s healed, every time you urinate you will be on FIRE!

14) Ice/Heating Packs:

Just as your body experience trauma, so does your skin! And of course you should use products that aid in firming and recovering. Firm skin helps keep the body looking youthful and vibrant!
16) C-section Recovery Kit:
If you had a c-section, you will need a recovery kit that includes all of the essentials for a speedy recovery. This kit should include things like pain relievers, an ice pack, and a heating pad.
17) Stool Softener:
Constipation is common after childbirth. A stool softener can help to ease this issue and make bowel movements more comfortable.
Some doctors will write a prescription, but you can purchase over the counter or online.
18) Fiber Supplement:
Along with a stool softener, a fiber supplement can also help with postpartum constipation.
Hopefully with the proper diet you can go; but if not don’t forget to add this on your list.

However, there are a few items that you may want to invest in, such as a good-quality nursing bra or postpartum girdle.
